Christmas is just around the corner and to celebrate it, I've come up with a sort of christmas special, a box of peppermint and strawberry mini dollops! And while stock last, I'll even throw in a candy cane for each box purchased :)

Best of all, you can get it straight away if you visit us at our charity booth at KL Bazaar on the 24th Dec 2011 (Saturday) from 1 pm to 10 pm at IOI Boulevard, Puchong! In addition to the dollops, my friends and I, from VoRA, are going to be selling pre-loved items from Rumah Aman's charity shop at the bazaar, all proceeds from these pre loved items are going to be donated to Rumah Aman. This is to help their effort in completing their second orphanage, Rumah Aman 2, in Sungai Buloh. So if you've not gotten christmas gifts, this is your last chance to shop! so, why not shop and do something good at the same time :)
Sorry for the late update, had quite a hectic time at work. It's the end of the year, so have a few deadlines to catch up on before the start of the new year!
Excuses aside, managed to raked in RM 240 for November's charity contribution. Thanks to the large order from the wedding :)

Was browsing through Facebook the other day, like you always do when you're procrastinating, and came across Ratisya's wall post about a 5 minute chocolate cake recipe. Intrigued, I went out to buy some unsweetened chocolate powder and milk chocolate chips to try it out. My mom was a bit skeptical when I unloaded my groceries and told her enthusiastically what I was up to. My sister, Aida, said that she tried a recipe she found once and it didn't come out very nice but I was determined! So I set about it but was stopped by my mom from using the house mugs, she told me to use proper baking bowls instead, for fear it might explode in the microwave (sheesh, have some faith!).
Lo and behold, the chocolate cake came out awesome! I took Ratisya's advice of adding a pinch of salt if I'm using oil in the recipe, I think she substituted hers with melted salted butter. I then of course, being the genius that I am, thought if we can bake a cake in the microwave, we probably can bake meringues! HAHAHA boy, was I wrong. Lesson in basic form 5's Fizik on "Gelombang Mikro", it heats the food from inside out, instead of in a conventional oven, which heats from outside in.
Voila, this is what you get when you put meringues in the microwave,
Lumpy and soggy on the outside (1 minute in the microwave)
Totally BURNT inside (2 mins in the microwave)
So lesson learnt peeps, there's no short cut in life (except for that chocolicious chocolate cake, but I bet that took a few tries, jst to get the recipe right!)
Yesterday, Nadia organized a surprised bridal shower for Syuhada, it was at a very remote and exotic Nadalama spa. The theme for the bridal shower was "Survivor" and we're meant to get gifts for Syu to "survive" her marriage haha
I decided to make some party favors to give away to those who came. It was a fun and wholesome bridal shower, we played "Project Runway" where we had to dress the bride to be with items provided, played charades and then a game where we had to dig through our handbag and tell everyone how we'd survive on an island with stuff found in our handbag. Needless to say, I won't last very long with my evening handbag haha
Anyway, here's the favors I made. This time around I decorated the jars, it's not as amazing as Elle's but will have to do, since she's busy with her sister's wedding.
It's one day after the wedding and I guess I can post the pictures of dollops I made for Elena's wedding :) Saw her gorgeous wedding pictures on fb, congrats again Elena and may both of you be happy and blessed till the end of time.
I was given 400 or so jars to be filled with mini dollops and it took me roughly 5 nights and 1 Saturday to complete the task but it was worth it, had so much fun filling up the beautifully handcrafted jars made by Eleanor, Elena's sister. So if anyone's looking for wedding/party favours, you can contact us and we can work something out for your event :)
I am in the middle of a baking marathon. Need to bake 2000 mini dollops before Elena's wedding next next weekend.
Elle and Elena came to dropped by their handmade jars (they are the cutest! unfortunately, I can't show it to you just yet. only after the wedding) on Sat, there are 10 boxes in total and so far I've only managed to complete one box. There were a lot of "disagreement" between me and the oven. Btw, i've kinda given up on the new oven, it's just not working for me and my meringues so I'm selling it off for rm 300 if anyone's interested :P
So I've fixed the old oven (using my form 3 Kemahiran Hidup's knowledge haha) and is using that to bake the meringues. I guess am getting used to it again, the first few batches didn't turn out that right but today's is much better :)
Anyway, will post up pic once I'm allowed to :P heheh
